Charlotte Home Inspector Reveals Homemade Bomb

Charlotte home inspector Preston Sandlin was inspecting a North Charlotte home yesterday when he noticed that a homeowner had put a pair of vice grips on the TPR valve of a water heater.  The TPR valve is a presure relief valve that has a spring in it that depresses if the water heater overheats for some reason.  After a few years this Spring relaxes and it starts to leak.  Usually you just want to replace the TPR valve to fix it.  Clamping down a pair of vice grips fixes the leak but creates a bomb in the proccess.
