What's the most commonly recalled appliance?Believe it or not, dishwashers. We think this has more to do with price point than anything. Look at it this way , when General Electric orders a half million dishwashers to be manufactured in China, they need to save on shipping and raw material costs. So what they do is they hire engineers to come up with the smallest possible components...like solenoids that can leak and relays that can overheat and cause fires. When they test 100 dishwashers, everything can go fine, but once you have hundreds of thousands of them in use in real scenarios problems can arise.
Won't people be made aware of a recalled item, like they are with autos?Cars are a little different - they are pretty much universally registered with motor vehicle bureaus.
