Termites come from the ground and have to return to the ground for moisture but the come up for clelose material. The usually tunnel up making mud tubes to connect to thes cellouse material.The band sill at the dirt filled porches are especially suseptable because of their proximity to the ground. Once these termites start eating on the wood they eat the spring wood like you see here in this picture. When termites finish with a piece of wood it looks like pages of a book with mastic dirt attached. Termites and moisture do more damage the anything else to a house.
