Do you know what swarmer termites look like? When termites are present and Spring comes the first few warm days after a rain are very proned to termites swarming to start a new colony. Charlotte Home Inspection Shows Dangerous Deck

 

While on a recent Charlotte home Inspection, Home Inspection Carolina inspector Preston Sandlin noticed a dangerous deck situation.  The deck did not have any ledger boards or hangers.  The joists were just toe nailed in so the only thing that was holding all the weight was the nail itself.  If there were a lot of people on this deck it could possibly fail.  All floor joists should have either hangers or orr ledger boards for support.

Charlotte Home Inspector Reveals Electrical Issues

Charlotte Home Inspector Recommends Chimney Repair

While performing a home inspection in Charlotte NC near Carowinds, Home Inspection Carolina inspector Preston Sandlin notice a chimney with some seriously deteriated mortar.  The mortar no longer covered the top of the brick anymore.  The top part of the brick or the part of the brick with the holes in it are not glazed in such a way to take the weather like the sides of the brick are.  Water can penetrate the top of this part of the brck and cause it spawl.  This chimney needs to be recapped  to keep the water out.
