Charlotte Home Inspector Reveals Clogged Condensation Line

When Charlotte home inspector Preston Sandlin was inspecting a home in the Myers Park section of Charlotte NC when he discovered that the catch pan was rusty underneath the expansion coil.  What happened here is that the primary condensation line clogged up due to the ownwer not changing their filter regularly.  When the primary line clogs the excess condensation runs over into the catch pan.  The catch pan drains out over the eave at the masterbedroom window.  The idea is that the homeowner sees the pipe leaking out by ythe window and then they realize that the primary line is clogged needs cleaning out. This doesn't always happen though as the pan starts to rust like you see in this picture.  Check your catch pan today for water and/or rust.  If you have it your primary line is clogged and needs cleaning out.
